What does the hexagon pattern on a HEX condom actually do? A standard condom is a smooth, even sheet of latex. HEX has a raised web of 350 linked hexagons molded into the latex, with thin panels between them. The hexagon is a strong shape for its weight, which is why it shows up in honeycomb. LELO uses the web to reinforce a very thin condom and to give the inside a light texture that grips the skin, so the condom is less likely to slide during sex.
LELO HEX Original: thin latex with a hexagonal backbone
LELO HEX Original is a natural latex condom with a difference you can see: a lattice of 350 hexagons runs through the latex. The panels between them are 0.0022 to 0.0024 in thick, so the condom feels thin, while the lattice gives it structure and an anti-slip hold. Each condom is 2.12 in wide and 7.08 in long, and comes lightly lubricated.
The latex is treated to neutralize the usual rubber smell, and the foil is designed for a clean, easy unroll. Choose a pack of 3 to try them, or stock up with 12 or 36.
Best for: People who want a thin condom with a secure, non-slip fit and who are comfortable with a standard width of 2.12 in. HEX Original is made from natural latex, so it is not suitable for anyone with a latex allergy. For a roomier fit, see HEX Respect XL.

How to use
Check the expiry date on the foil and make sure the wrapper is intact. Tear it open at the edge with your fingers, not teeth or scissors. With the penis fully erect, pinch the tip of the condom to leave space at the end, place it on the head with the roll facing outward, and unroll it all the way to the base. Add water-based or silicone-based lubricant on the outside if you want more glide. After ejaculation, hold the rim at the base while withdrawing, before the erection fades. Wrap the used condom in tissue and put it in the trash. Use a new condom every time.
Care
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
- Do not keep condoms loose in a wallet, pocket or glove box for long periods.
- Use only water-based or silicone-based lubricant. Oils, lotions and petroleum jelly weaken latex.
- Contains natural rubber latex, which can cause allergic reactions. Stop use if irritation occurs.
- Single use only. Never reuse a condom and do not use one past its expiry date or with a damaged wrapper.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between HEX Original and HEX Respect XL?
Both use the same hexagonal latex and the same thickness. HEX Original is 2.12 in wide and 7.08 in long. HEX Respect XL is 2.28 in wide and 7.67 in long, for people who find standard condoms tight or short.
How thin is LELO HEX?
LELO lists the thickness at 0.055 to 0.060 mm, which is 0.0022 to 0.0024 in. The thin panels sit between the raised hexagon lines, so you get a thin feel with a reinforcing structure around it.
Are HEX condoms lubricated?
Yes, each condom is lightly lubricated. If you want more, add a water-based or silicone-based lubricant. Avoid anything oil-based, including massage oil and body lotion, because oil damages latex.
Can I use them if I have a latex allergy?
No. HEX Original is made from natural latex. If you or your partner have a latex allergy or sensitivity, choose a non-latex condom instead. The same applies to HEX Respect XL, which uses the same latex.
Do they smell like rubber?
LELO treats the latex to neutralize its scent, so the typical rubber smell and aftertaste are reduced. They are not flavored or scented with anything added.
