How does a smartphone VR headset work? A smartphone VR headset has no screen or electronics of its own. Your phone is the display. VR video shows two slightly different images side by side, one for each eye. The headset holds the phone at a fixed distance and puts a lens in front of each eye, so each eye sees only its own image and the brain joins them into one picture with depth. The phone's motion sensors track where you turn your head, which lets you look around inside the scene.
Kiiroo Virtual Reality Headset: your phone becomes the screen
The Kiiroo Virtual Reality Headset is a phone-based viewer with an ABS body. It takes smartphones with screens from 3.5 to 6 in, including iPhone, Android and Windows phones, and needs no extra hardware. Two 1.7 in spherical resin lenses are intended to cut distortion and give a wider view. Kiiroo sells it for watching VR content that syncs with its devices, such as the Keon 1 and Keon 2.
Best for: Owners of a Kiiroo interactive device who want to try synced VR video without buying a standalone headset. It suits first-time VR users with a phone in the supported size range. People who already own a dedicated VR headset do not need it.

Frequently asked questions
Which phones fit?
Kiiroo lists the headset for smartphones with screens from 3.5 to 6 in, and names iPhone, Android and Windows phones. Many current phones are larger than 6 in, so measure your screen diagonal before ordering.
Does the headset have its own screen?
No. It is a viewer that relies on your smartphone for the picture, sound and motion tracking. There is nothing to charge and no software built into the headset itself.
Does it work with Kiiroo devices?
The headset only displays the video. The syncing happens between the VR content and your device through Kiiroo's app. Kiiroo presents it for use with interactive VR content alongside devices such as the Keon 1 and Keon 2.
