Is a water-based lubricant safe to use with everything? Water-based lubricant is the most widely compatible type. It does not damage latex, so it works with condoms. It does not react with silicone, TPE, glass or metal, so it suits any toy. It also dissolves in water, which means it rinses off skin and washes out of sheets. The one drawback is that it can dry out with time. A fresh drop of lube or a little water brings the glide back.
Mood Water Based Lube in the 8 oz bottle
Mood Water Based Lube is Doc Johnson's general-purpose lubricant, made in America as part of the Mood range. It reduces friction for sex with a partner and can be used with toys of any material. The maker states it is safe with all condoms. The formula is water-soluble, does not stain, and is described as conditioning and moisturizing for skin.
This is the 8 oz bottle, the bigger of the two sizes we list. It suits regular use and anyone who would sooner not run out.
Best for: For couples and solo users who want one lubricant that works for everything: sex, condoms and any toy in the drawer. The 8 oz size is the practical pick for frequent use and for a bottle that lives at home.

How to use
Squeeze a small amount into your palm or directly onto the body, condom or toy. Spread it evenly and add more until things move comfortably. With a condom, apply the lube to the outside once the condom is on. If the lubricant starts to feel tacky or dry during a longer session, add a little more or wet it with a few drops of water. When you finish, rinse skin with water and wash toys with mild soap. Snap the cap shut so the bottle does not leak.
Care
- Rinse off skin with warm water; no soap is needed to remove it.
- Wash toys with mild soap and water after use and dry them fully.
- Close the cap firmly and store the bottle upright.
- Keep at room temperature, out of direct sunlight.
- Stop using it if irritation occurs.
Frequently asked questions
