How is Pleasure Air different from a vibrating stroker? A vibrating stroker shakes a sleeve around the penis. Pleasure Air does something else: it sends rapid pulses of air through a small opening inside the sleeve. In the Ion 2 those pulses are aimed at the frenulum, the sensitive area on the underside of the head, where Arcwave says receptors called Pacinian corpuscles respond to fast changes in pressure. The feeling is a deep pulsing in one spot, which you can combine with ordinary stroking.
Arcwave Ion 2: airwave stimulation for the penis
Arcwave Ion 2 is a rechargeable stroker built around Pleasure Air, a technology that stimulates with pulsating airwaves instead of vibration. The airwaves target the Pacinian receptors in the frenulum. Smart Silence senses skin contact, so stimulation starts when you slide in and stops when you pull away. That keeps it quiet whenever it is not in use.
Autopilot adds three preset programs, low, medium and high, that shift between intensity levels at random so each session runs differently. The sleeve is CleanTech silicone, and the upper part twists off for rinsing. Ion 2 is waterproof to IPX7 and runs for 90 minutes on a 120 minute charge.
Best for: People with a penis who want something different from a textured sleeve and who respond well to stimulation of the frenulum. It is used solo, or with a partner holding it, with water-based lubricant. Arcwave suggests trying it at least five times, because the sensation is new and takes getting used to.

How to use
Charge Ion 2 fully before first use, which takes about 120 minutes. Hold the plus button until you feel it rumble: it is now on and waiting in Smart Silence mode. Spread water-based lubricant inside the sleeve and on your penis. Slide in so the frenulum rests against the Pleasure Air opening, and stimulation begins as soon as it senses skin. Hold still at first to feel the airwaves, then mix in slow strokes. Try Autopilot once you know the settings. Arcwave suggests at least five sessions before you judge it.
Care
- Use water-based lubricant only, on the sleeve and on yourself.
- After use, twist off the upper part and rinse it with water.
- Ion 2 is IPX7 waterproof, but never boil it or put it in a dishwasher.
- Let every part dry fully before putting it back together and storing it.
- Recharge with the magnetic cable supplied.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Arcwave Ion 2 and the Ghost, Pow and Voy?
Ion 2 is the only powered model of the four. It uses Pleasure Air airwaves on the frenulum, has a rechargeable battery and switches on with skin contact. Ghost, Pow and Voy are manual silicone strokers with no motor: Ghost is a reversible textured sleeve, Pow adds finger-controlled suction and Voy has adjustable tightness.
Is the Ion 2 loud?
Arcwave does not publish a decibel figure. What Ion 2 does have is Smart Silence, which holds stimulation back until the sensor detects skin and stops it when contact ends. Arcwave presents this as the way it avoids unwanted noise when the toy is not in use.
Is the Arcwave Ion 2 waterproof?
Yes. It is rated IPX7, and Arcwave says the device and the sleeve can both go under water once they are separated for cleaning. That makes rinsing simple. Dry every part thoroughly afterward.
How long does the battery last?
Arcwave lists a run time of 90 minutes and a charge time of 120 minutes for Ion 2. It has a USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery and comes with a magnetic charging cable. Some retailer listings quote other times. These are the maker's current figures.
Do I need lubricant with the Ion 2?
Yes. Arcwave's instructions call for water-based lubricant on both the sleeve and the penis before you slide in. Avoid silicone-based lubricant, which can damage a silicone sleeve. Lubricant is not listed among the box contents, so have some ready.
