Agree on a safe word and a hand signal before you start. Measure the neck, then wrap the collar around it with the D-ring at the front and fasten the buckle. Two fingers should fit between the collar and the neck. Check that the wearer can breathe, swallow and speak comfortably. Add a lock only after the fit is right, and keep the key close. If you attach a leash, lead gently and never jerk it or tie it to a fixed point. Stay with the wearer throughout and take the collar off if they feel dizzy, numb or sore.
Care

Does it come with a lock?
The distributor says the collar can be locked closed but does not list a padlock or key as included. Have a small padlock of your own ready, and keep its key within reach whenever the collar is locked on.

Can I attach a leash?
Yes. The D-ring at the front is there for a leash or other accessory. Lead with light pressure only. A sharp pull on a stiff collar can strain the neck, and a collar should never be used to hold body weight.
How long can it be worn?
The padding is meant to make longer wear more comfortable. Even so, take regular breaks, check in with the wearer and remove the collar at any sign of dizziness, numbness, neck pain or trouble breathing or swallowing.
