Is a plastic chastity cage a good choice for a first device? Plastic cages are a common starting point because they are simple to fit and remove. The Hard Stop is described by its distributor as a starter cage. It comes with four rings from 1.6 to 2 inches, so you can work out your size by trying them, and the lock opens and closes with a single twist of the key. Vents along the cage let air reach the skin, and the tip has a hole for urination.

Hard Stop: a starter chastity cage in black plastic

The Hard Stop is a short chastity cage in sturdy black plastic, about 2.1 inches long and 1.7 inches wide. It is sold with four base rings in graduated sizes, with inner diameters of 1.6, 1.7, 1.9 and 2 inches. Pick the ring that sits comfortably around the shaft and testicles, attach the cage and turn the key to lock it.

Several vents run through the cage so air can circulate, and a hole at the tip allows urination. Two keys are included. The distributor suggests one for the keyholder's everyday use and the other for emergencies. The lock is worked by inserting a key and twisting.

Best for: A sensible first cage for people new to consensual chastity play. The short 2.1 inch cage is made to sit closely on a smaller flaccid size. Four rings take most of the guesswork out of sizing, and the twist lock is easy to learn.

How to use

Try the rings first. The right one sits behind the testicles and stays put without pinching or leaving the skin cold. Fit the device while flaccid, using a little water-based lubricant if the skin drags. Slide the cage on, line it up with the ring, insert the key and twist to lock. Check that nothing is trapped. Start with short sessions and lengthen them gradually. Keep the second key where the wearer can reach it in an emergency, and remove the cage at once if there is numbness, swelling or a change in color.

Care

  • Wash with warm water and mild soap after each wear, including inside the vents.
  • Dry every part fully, including the lock, before storing or wearing it again.
  • Use a small amount of water-based lubricant for fitting.
  • Do not boil the plastic or use harsh cleaners on it.
  • Store the rings and keys together so nothing goes missing.

Frequently asked questions

Which ring should I choose?

Start with the ring closest to your measured size and wear it for a few minutes. It should hold the cage in place without pain or swelling. The four rings have inner diameters of 1.6, 1.7, 1.9 and 2 inches, so there is room to go up or down.

How big is the cage?

The cage is about 2.1 inches long and 1.7 inches wide. That is a short cage, meant to fit closely when flaccid. If you measure noticeably longer than that when soft, a longer cage is likely to be more comfortable.

Why are there two keys?

One key is for everyday use by the keyholder. The second is a backup for emergencies, so the cage can always be taken off quickly. Agree in advance where the spare is kept, and make sure the wearer can get to it.

Can it be worn for long periods?

The vents and the open tip are there to make longer wear practical. Build up slowly all the same, take the cage off regularly to wash and check the skin, and stop if anything feels numb, sore or swollen.
