Care and tips for this toy

The two-finger rule

Two fingers should slide under the strap. Check in every 10 to 20 minutes and release at numbness or sharp pain. With metal cuffs, set the double lock and keep a spare key in reach.

Why use fabric sashes as restraints? A sash is the simplest restraint there is. It is a long strip of soft fabric that you tie yourself, so there are no buckles, locks or hardware. The wide, smooth material spreads pressure and feels gentle on the skin. It is also the most flexible option. The same sash can bind wrists, tie an ankle to a bedpost, cover the eyes or sit across the mouth. That makes sashes an easy first step into bondage.

Sex and Mischief Silky Sash Restraints

These restraints from the Sex and Mischief line by Sportsheets are two silky sashes made of polyester. According to the store's earlier listing, each one measures four feet long and four inches wide. The fabric is very soft against the skin but holds securely once tied.

They are easy to use and adapt to almost anything. Wrap them around wrists or ankles, or use one as a blindfold and the other as a light gag. This listing is the black set.

Best for: For beginners who want to try being tied up without buying cuffs, and for couples who like the feel of smooth fabric. The sashes fold small, so they are also handy for travel.

How to use

Choose a safe word and keep a pair of blunt-tipped scissors close by. Wrap a sash twice around the wrist so the fabric lies flat, then tie a knot that will not slip tighter when pulled. Leave room for two fingers. Tie the free end to a bedpost if you like. Use the second sash on the other wrist, or fold it and lay it over the eyes as a blindfold. Never tie a sash around the neck. Untie right away if hands feel numb or cold.

Care

  • Hand wash in cool water with mild soap.
  • Hang to air dry; do not tumble dry on high heat.
  • Iron on a low setting only if needed.
  • Fold or roll loosely for storage.
